Did you know Australians don't drink coffee in the office, during meetings? They prefer it fancy and have their coffee from a coffee bar.
Coffee bars are all over the place, and open at 6am (even on a Sunday1) till 3pm max, and people enjoy their comfort cup on terraces all year around.
The coffee comes in all varieties, really unbelievable how many ways you can make up, for different proportions of water, coffee and milk:
Espresso : single shot, double shot
Long black
Flat white
Latte
Cappuccino
And then the many different milk types:
Full
Skimmed
Soya
Almond
Lactose free
Sugar you can opt for: 0, 1, 2, ...
Then surely sizes: Regular, Large, Big
The coffee bars have even drinks for the kids:
Hot chocolate, ok that one we now, but then:
`Babychino` mini sized cup with warm (not hot) foamed milk, with some cacao powder on top and a melting marshmallow inside
Unbelievable, right?!
I heard that Australia has the most complex and diverse coffee culture due to its variety of immigrants who like it all their own way. Makes quite some sense to me.
Anyway, easy to get used to! Sometimes when the morning routines goes really well, we might have occasionally 15 minutes spare to have a warm drink before hitting the road.
Even in the weekends, the coffee bars are the place to be, I dare to say Australians love their breakfast outside. Me too, nothing better than a healthy breakfast in the fresh air!
