23-24 April 2024

The winding roads take us the Flinders Ranges, a 600 million years old rock formation which was once higher than the Himalaya.

We install at the heart in Ikara (Wilpena Pound). This place is managed by the Traditional Owners of this land, the Adnyamathanha people. Ikara means meeting place in Adnyamathanha language.

We planned one night, but stay two, as we enjoy the peace and calm. The kids just adore staying in the same spot and need nothing more than sticks and rocks to play.

At 4.30pm we join the Welcome to Country by our unforgettable Adnyamathanha man. He is the most open hearted soul, sharing indigenous culture and traditions with such an openness, empowering the 'us' feeling.

We end with a smoke ritual to send a wish, a thank you, let go of what we no longer need,... All travels up with the smoke into the universe.
