Easy walk through the gap into Ikara - Wilpena Pound, a rock formation formed through million years of erosion forming an enclosure with in the middle huge plains.

At the Homestead, a lonely ruin, we learn about the life of the pastoralists trying to survive here in this harsh climate through long periods of drought around 1900's; as well as the life of the Adnyamathanha people who knew how to live in harmony with nature but couldn't any longer when fences arose and cut them from land and water. They had to give up their language and traditions to get a 'dog tag', be owned by the Whites and gain basic rights.

From the Homestead we climb to the Wangara hilltop and get a great view over Ikara.
