Thanks to Australian Geograpic `s guide we have discovered this weekend another hidden pearl, only 15 minutes from our home.

Mowbray Park forms a beautiful bushland corridor along the Lane Cove River and provides a vital home to a great variety of plant and animal species.

Walking along the river bank we saw extensive stands of Grey Mangroves. They grow in the salty river water, their roots sticking up out of the mud, with fish and crustaceans living between the tree trunks.

Mangroves have the ability to absorb up to 4 x more carbon dioxide by area than upland terrestrial forests. Therefore mangroves are one of the most productive and biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet.

The abundant sandstone rocks are habitat for many species of reptiles & climbing fun during high tide for us.

On the way back we choose the upper track, which takes us up the sandstone platforms.

At the top we are surprised by some amazing views. At the right side of the tree you see Chatwoord`s skyscrapers rising above the horizon line.

On the ridges we see a lot of beautiful Sydney Red Gum ....!

Just back in time for sunset. This was a small but really beautiful walk on a late Saturday afternoon.
