Budj Bim
According to the Aboriginals, Budj Bim (high head) is the creating being that has shaped the landscape erupting with lava and creating tunnels and waterways. We discover dark and long lava tunnels.
Crater Lake Rim Walk
Walking around the crater lake we spot an echidna, plenty of noisy cockatoos, a wallaby, a mob of grey kangaroos.
No more rain ánd a campfire :-) ! And Chloe develops a new way to get the last crumbles of chips out of its bag.
Tae Rek Wetlands
Here at Tae Rek we learn about the ingenuity of the aquaculture systems surrounding the lake and engineered and managed for thousands of years by the traditional owners of the land, allowing a maximum of live.
The kooyang (eels) of this area are actually born in the coral sea near Vanuatu (4000km away) where they will return to die after having created the next generation. In the big tank we see the eels, and the visitor center offers delicious bush tucker (and lemon myrtle cheese cake, best ever! )
On the Road
Winding roads through the Victorian landscapes, softoys sing-along in the car and meeting 2 emus by chance.
Soon we will cross the border to South-Australia!
