What a joy! After 6 months of abstinence we are cycling again! Last week we were allowed to collect our bikes from Customs. They were quarantined for some months due to dust/earth on the tyres... (which means potential biohazard to the local ecosystem).
We all like cycling a lot, so we have been looking forward to get our wheels turning again. Thomas was under pressure to get all bikes mounted, greased and ready asap to set off for a family tour. We enjoyed our first Australian kilometres. Tristan and Chloe cycled by themselves: a tour to school, the playground, another playground, a pick-nick, getting used to new traffic rules, but most of all to the steep hills .... Our legs will need some training!
Aiko and myself opt for an extra round in the evening. All the way down to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and back.
And ever since that weekend, we are using our bikes more and more. Tristan and Chloe cycle to school every day. Its is downhill in the morning, and quit steep back in the evening. So a bit tricky for Chloe, daddy gives an extra push when needed. But now she starts to get up all the way without help and she is very proud!

I am dreaming of going to work by bicycle for long time and now... it is finally possible !!
Thomas and I both started cycling to the City. I take the kids in the morning, and he in the evening. It was a bit of organisation, you need to carry kids seat, computer, change of cloths, etc but the ride is just wonderful !! (Thanks to the local climat of course ;-))
It is very short ride but tough!! The daily round trip is +/-15km with +/-400 altimeters (positive denivelation). So getting back home is a bit of suffering (uphill) but still feels so good in the end...
This is how we leave home in the morning these days :-)
