24th April

Leaving Mungo means the end of our trip approaching. From here its 1002km or 11 hours to get back home.

Last hours driving on dirt road. We get spoiled with heaps of emus and take the time to watch and enjoy.

After 2 hours we get on Stuart Highway, connecting Adelaide with Sydney.

From here it is 958km straight till Sydney.

We sleepover in a cabine in Wagga Wagga and rediscover the joy of a real bed, hot shower and water coming out of a tap.

The next day we have only 5 hours left. Looking for a lunch break, we stop in Berrima by coincidence, and we asks ourselves why there is so many visitors ? Berrima is a historic town full of character and charm, lots of heritgage listed buildings of more than 150 years old.

It is autumn and the smell under the trees here surprises me. For the first time since I am in Australia I smell this humid earth, the smell of humus, so typical of home in Belgium and I call the kids to tell them excited "Come here, do you smell this air? It is the same as in the forest of Buggenhout!" :-)

Only 2 more hours and we will be back home...
