Did you ever go for camping by boat... ?
In Palm Beach, only 45 minutes north of our home, you can take a ferry to the other side of the water to land on a campground, called the Basin, in the middle of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
People only get there by boat, or hiking... But you can`t reach the camping by car. This means everything you bring, you must carry it! All kids helped their bit, each with a small back pack and a sleeping bag. And Thomas carried the tents, sleeping maths, cooking stuff & food in our bike trailer (which has been helping us out for so many years and in so many ways.
As it was a long weekend with Australia Day (day off) and the last weekend of the summer holidays, we were not alone. The queue was long and the boat ended up packed at full capacity. At the other side, we walked off the wharf, welcomed into the Park.

The campground consists of one big field where everyone chooses a spot for his tent, and another bigger field free to play, make a barbecue or campfire, etc The sit is surrounded by a couple of small rocky beaches with wavy water on the east, a long flat strip of sand and water called the Basin on the south, and a high wall of green lush and bush on the northwest.
The Basin had shallow and warmer water, just perfect to play all afternoon. In the evening we chose the windy eastern side of the campground to cook our traditional spaghetti Bolognese enjoying the view on the peninsula.

The National Park is home to many wildlife. `You are only visitors` we were told upon our arrival by boat. So no feeding and no scaring any of the habitants.
The kookaburras were around all day.

The wallabies stayed hidden in the bush until night, but this impressive fellow didn`t care about the human visitors and was definitely feeling home, strolling around his territory...
Snorkelling in the bay. Tristan and Chloe saw many different fish. Aiko watching it all floating on the surface.
