Puffing Billy

Famous steam train running since 1900, and clearly the pride of many local volunteers who help to keep this train running for the many overseas tourists.

We get on board for a ride through Dandenong rainforest. Impressive wooden bridge over the valley. Beautiful piece of heritage, impressive to see the locomotive running! (But what a dark charcoal cloud!)

Raining all evening and night!

We spend the evening warm and dry in the local restaurant with char grill and wood fired pizza and beers. Yummmy!

At night we discover our 20 year old hiking tents are not longer waterproof.... Luckily all sleeping gear can dry at the laundry dryer before we go.
