Our roadtrip is quickly approaching its end. Today we have our last daytrip onto the Great Barrier Reef. We are heading to Michaelmas Cay which looks a like a tiny little sand hill in the middle of the sea. A cay is an island formed by the accumulation of broken coral, shells and remains of algae, continually washed over the reef by currents. Over time the cay stabilises over by seeds deposited by visiting birds resulting in vegetation, and that is how this cay became sanctuary for birds.

From the cay we walk in the water and float on our belly, just below our noses is a wonderful world full of spectacular colours, the different shapes participating in a peaceful dance caused the waves, all of it wrapped in solemn silence. I just love being under water admiring the spectacular creations of nature....
The younger ones amongst us can admire the reef through the windows of this semi-submersible boat.
After all the action there is dessert and upon arrival we get to sit on the captain`s seat !
