20 January 2024

Saturday morning, ready to hit the road. Splitted teams, team 1 (opa, meter, Tristan and Chloe) is picking up the campervan while team 2 (Ilse, Thomas and Aiko) have plenty of time to pack up at home and have a coffee on the road.

Aiko catching a wave at our coffee stop.

Patting rays at Bendalong Point

Lunch stop at Bendalong Point. In this bay humans and rays have developped a harmonious relationship together. Humans feeding the rays with left overs from fishing and the rays let them pat by the many visitors. See here the Southern Eagle Rays and the huge Black Ocean Rays. How soft but strong are those gracious animals !

After lunch we have another 3 hours till our unexpectedly magnificent campsite.

Into the wild at Brou Lake

At Brou Lake Campground, we are only steps away from the lake and the sea. Our neighbours catch a flathead fish in the lake. We find blue bottle jelly fish in the sand and are surrounded by many shorebirds like the Little Tern. In the evening a wallaby jumps by!

At night we get visit from a couple of possums. The breeze is warm and we dream away with the sound of the crashing waves...
