Incredible the quantity of books, cloths, toys we gather when having space. It has proven to be a hell of a job to get our house empty !
Since many years i long for having less stuff, to be surrounded by beautiful and clean spaces. But it isn't easy when living with 3 small childres who like everything and bring every day new stuff into the house. And it isn't easy to say goodbye to things from our past which results in a growing collection through the years and decades....
For me our departure to the other side of the world is the perfect excuse to give all of it a thorough selection, and only keep what i need and what i love. All the other things, I decided to give away :-)
It has been really a pleasure finding a new destiny for everything. I don't like to throw away things, so i tried to give everything a new life:
- book collection handed out to so many different people: friends, parents, family, colleagues, soulmates, ....
- cd's: for the old fashion people amongst us ;-) my mother-in law, some good friends, the son of our nanny, ...
- babystuff, & most part of the toys: to Kaboes which is helping poor families in our local community, to the nannies of our kindergarden which took care with so much love of our 3 children for the last 7 years , and of course to our younger nephews and friends
- clothes and shoes: to a colleague and a friend who happen to have the same (small) size as me
- but most things went to the Kringwinkel, our local second hand network where i have been dropping uncountable number of boxes during the last year, and they received everything with a big smile :-) it is a nice and easy way to give things a second life, and to help others, i am gratefull this exist
And the result?
I feel much lighter than before :-) ready to go, and happy to see all these smiling faces :-)
